Ziggy

Liquor in the bottle

Pills at your bedside

You cry every Mornin

Because you’re awake

Your daddy’s a preacher

Praying for your sinners soul

Your knees are bloody

from the prayers you prayed

Chorus:

Ziggy come on down

Ziggy come around

Ziggy come out come out

From where ever you are

Ziggy come on down

Ziggy turn it around

Ziggy took it out way to far

Way to far

Mama kept you grounded

She passed some time now

Your sharing a space

With you’re crazy twin

So you sleep in your truck

Hugging a bottle of vodka

Your friends all know about

The trouble your drownin’ in

Ch

You can’t take us down

We won’t let you infect that risk

You lost your job and

Lost your will to give

There’s no share of blame

Ziggy we love you like our own

But you spit out

the fresh clean water that we give!

Ch x2

Ziggy come out come out come out

From where ever you are

Ziggy come out come out come out

From where ever you are

The First Beat

  • From the first beat
  • Of my infant heart
  • To the very last breath I take
  • I’ll be feeling every move you make

  • From the very first
  • Time we kissed
  • I saw a deeper well fill up your eyes
  • That Burning passion tells no lies

  • I’ll let your hand
  • Move about my face
  • With every stroke you hypnotize
  • The river is raging, the water will rise
  •
  •      From the ashes
  • Our hearts surmise
  • For affections
  • We will always pine

  • From the tangled sweet
  • Web we weave
  • We’ll rid our world of bitter souls
  • We’ll teach our children to be bold

The Ballad of Mr. Tate

neLLy uLima

Where have you been
All my life
Handsome young man
Tell me

Tell me
What your green eyes
Can teach this land
Eyes that see the good in man

Words that lift the spirit
Of all the people who
Need to hear it
Tell me…

Not broken by divorce
Or by teachers made of shit
You just smile from your heart
Tell me…how you do it?

Dancing free in a crowd
To your favorite song
Your laughter loud
Your patience strong

If I had one wish
I’d have half the swag you do
Tell me Mr. Tate
How could anyone not love you

There’s a Place

There’s a place I like to go to
It’s in a space, there’s not a ghost
It’s inside every man
Woman and child
It’s free,it’s chained, calm and
Very wild
Very wild
There’s a place I like to run to
It has your face where answers come to
There are questions, loud silences
And noise
But when I need to, I only hear
Your voice
Your voice
There’s a place I like to sing to
Fulfilling grace that always rings true
Music fills every single mind
The rhythm is in every
Hand of time
Hand of time
There’s a place
There’s a place IMG_1083

Valhalla

Jane Dougherty Writes

Painting by Edward Robert Hughes, a Pre-Raphaelite painter who chose a rather diaphanous vision of the job of the Valkyries.

The_Valkyrie's_Vigil

The father, the ring master, watches with pride
The butchery on the battlefield.
His daughters, casqued and armed,
Winged mounts snorting in the chill high air,
Watch as he does, with practiced eye,
The dead and dying and the yet to die.
He points here and there,
Casually selecting the noble deaths,
Disregarding the agony of less honourable wounds.
White robed, white mounted they swoop,
And gather up their prizes from the bloody ground,
Carry their hacked and dripping burdens back to bliss.
Valhalla.
Awakened eyes, prize-winning wounds healed,
Warriors gape at the monumental feasting,
The endless benches of bearded heroes,
Eating and drinking,
Belching and vomiting
Their way to forgetfulness and eternity.
Their white robes soaked in red blood,
Hands gore slippery,
The women lead their mounts away,
To…

Valentine’s Heart

Cupid has an alibi
for missing St Valentines day
he was standing right behind me
i was with my baby down Mexico way
all the heavy smoke and tie dye
folks singing on that pyramid hill
watching over my Valentines Heart
…….be still
This heart of mine is like the Jersey Pike
Full of bloated cops, Sirens and truck stop junkies
Arteries have closed, detour signs
red lights, flood danger and toll booth flunkies

Doctor,
Fix my Valentines Heart
Oh My Valentines Heart
Build that bridge to My Valentines Heart
So me and my Cadillac can drive my baby home

I’ll take that ride into the night
And dream about your hair in the wind
Mr Cupid don’t let them spill my blood
No old dogs can know where I been
Radiators howling on the jukebox
Paving dusty roads in my veins
Six ways lead my Valentines heart
When I wake up home again

This heart of mine is like the Jersey Pike
Full of bloated cops, sirens and truck stop junkies
Arteries have closed, detour signs
Red lights, flood danger and toll booth flunkies

Doctor,
Fix my Valentines Heart
Oh my Valentines Heart
Build that bridge to my Valentines Heart
So me and my Cadillac can drive my baby home

Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Sha la la la
Oh my Valentines Heart
Fix my Valentines Heart
Build that bridge to my Valentines Heart
So me and my Cadillac can drive
Sha la la la, sha la la la
Oh oh oh oh
Oh my Valentines Heart
Pave the way to my Valentines Heart
Build that bridge to my Valentines Heart
So me and my Cadillac can drive
So me and my Cadillac can drive
my baby back home.
